Advances in Plant Biotechnology (Volume 2) presents contemporary developments, emerging technologies, and innovative applications in plant biotechnology aimed at improving crop productivity, quality, resilience, and sustainability. The volume brings together advances in plant tissue culture, genetic transformation, molecular breeding, plant genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, molecular markers, and functional genomics, along with their applications in crop improvement. Particular emphasis is placed on modern genome-editing technologies, including CRISPR/Cas systems, and their potential for precise modification of economically important traits. The book also explores biotechnological approaches for developing resistance to biotic stresses and tolerance to drought, salinity, heat, cold, and other environmental stresses that increasingly constrain agricultural production. Advances in plant–microbe interactions, biofertilizers, biocontrol, secondary metabolite production, in vitro propagation, genetic resource conservation, and biotechnology-assisted improvement of nutritional and quality traits are also addressed. Emerging areas such as multi-omics integration, synthetic biology, nanobiotechnology, bioinformatics, high-throughput phenotyping, and artificial intelligence-assisted crop improvement highlight the rapidly expanding scope of the discipline. By integrating fundamental concepts with recent research and practical applications, this volume provides a comprehensive perspective on how modern biotechnology can complement conventional plant breeding and contribute to climate-resilient and sustainable agriculture. The book is intended to serve as a valuable reference for researchers, academicians, postgraduate students, plant breeders, biotechnologists, and professionals working in plant sciences, agricultural biotechnology, genetics, genomics, and crop improvement.
