It Research efforts are increasing at a fast pace globally. Mankind is faced with a lot of challenges. The rapid increase in research works especially in biomedical field is geared towards problem solving and opening new frontier. Often this may involve the use of human subjects. Some research works involve the use of human parts such as saliva, urine, blood, and cerebrospinal fluid. There are some ethical issues involved. Decision concerning right and wrong have to be made. Scientists are often expected to abide by high ethical standards when carrying out experiments. Experiments must be carried out for discoveries to be made and for humanity to record progress. Yet it is the sacred duty of the researcher to safeguard the rights of those he has recruited for the study. The book addresses contemporary ethical issues in biomedical research. It shades light on the following issues: organ donation, informed consent, maintaining confidentiality etc. It equally covers the delicate nature of doctor-patient relationship. The strength of this book lies in dissecting issues to the end and proffering solutions where there appears to be ethical dilemma. Conducting an experiment and reporting findings emanating from that experiment are two different but related issues. This book delves into an important aspect of research which involves acknowledging sources of materials used when writing the findings from the research. The book, Contemporary Ethical Issues in Biomedical Research is designed for medical students, doctors, nurses, researchers in the biomedical field, general public, philosophers, legal practitioners, lecturers in the universities, and scientists. It is hoped that after going through this book the reader will have something to think about. In the end the reader will be well informed about some ethical issues in medical sciences and biomedical research.
