Abstract

Due to factors including climate change, population growth, and biotic and abiotic stress, wheat an essential stable crop of global significance is under a lot of strain. Cultivated in regions such as the central zone, the peninsular zone, and the northwestern and eastern plains, wheat is a reliable food crop. Wheat is primarily a self-pollinating crop with low heterosis and significant inbreeding depression. Bread wheat, durum wheat, emmer wheat, einkorn wheat, and club wheat are among the various varieties of wheat. Bread wheat is the most widely produced of these wheat types, followed by durum wheat and dicoccum wheat. The Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research has released a number of cultivars for various geographical climates. Compared to crops that are cross-pollinated, wheat requires less field inspections and isolation distances because it is a self-pollinating crop. Depending on the kind of soil, the climate, and disease and pest infestations, its output can range from 35 to 40 q/ha. Despite this, there are still certain problems with growing wheat and seed production technology of wheat crop.
