Abstract

Animal sciences have been profoundly changed by contemporary biotechnology advancements, which provide workable answers to worldwide problems pertaining to medicinal research and food security. Climate change, infectious disease outbreaks, and rapid population growth have raised the need for effective and sustainable animal production methods. Developments in molecular breeding, genomic selection, and genome editing technologies have made it possible to produce livestock that are more productive, more resistant to disease, and more resilient to environmental stress. Modern diagnostics, vaccine research, and precision livestock farming have also improved animal health management and decreased financial losses in the agriculture industry. In addition to reducing their negative effects on the environment, emerging fields like cellular agriculture and microbiome engineering support sustainable protein production. The application of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to animal biotechnology is transforming the discipline, especially in developing nations where livestock and agriculture are important economic sectors. Data analysis is made more effective by Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning in fields like disease prevention, animal management, and genetic optimization, enhancing sustainability and productivity. Beyond the provision of food, animal biotechnology is essential for medicinal applications such as the creation of therapeutic proteins, the development of transgenic animal models for the study of human diseases, and developments in regenerative medicine.
